Dr. de Charms received a research award from the National Institutes of Health for the study of how real time functioning MRI imaging could help soldiers manage pain though biofeedback instead of drugs.
In order to conduct the research, Christoper needed to lease a $1.2 million MRI but his company didn't have a balance sheet to carry that kind of debt. In fact it had no balance sheet. After hearing no from a dozen bankers, he found Anderson Funding who turned his company's period payments from the grant into lease payments for the MRI.
Even though there was a high risk of failure and contract termination Anderson was able to share a story of a dedicated scientist determined to help our injured warriors.
Here is a TED talk that makes us proud of how we can make a difference working together with the government's money.
